Weddings in Castles near Los Angeles and surrounding Southern California areas

We’re back to blogging about sunny Southern California and all the pretty castle ambiance settings that are picturesque for that ideal Chinese wedding, Persian wedding, Indian wedding, or for that matter – any wedding ceremony and/or reception.  If you have ever thought about hosting your wedding celebrations or attended a wedding at these venues, please share your experience below by commenting.  We found a few Northern California castles that were also worth blogging about, so we’ve decided to add them into this post as well.

Castle Green – is located at 99 South Raymond Avenue in Pasadena.  The Castle Green was built in 1898 during the Victorian era as an annex to the resort Hotel Green originally and  in the 1920’s it was converted into private residences.  It is a Nationally Registered Historic Monument and Officially Designated Pasadena Treasure.  It has been restored in every detail, including architectural details and colors. It has extensive grounds, including a lily pond and arched walkways and verandas, with magnificent trees and expansive lawns.

Sleeping Beauty Castle – One of the most famous castles belongs to Sleeping Beauty and located in Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California.  This castle makes a fairytale princess themed wedding come true.  It receives roughly 16 million visitors per year and the Sleeping Beauty Castle in California is the oldest of the Disney castles having opened in 1955.  It is celebrating its 60th Anniversary.  If you ever wondered if the drawbridge works, it sure does.  However, it has only ever been used twice; Disneyland Park’s opening day, July 17, 1955, and again in 1983 to unveil the newly remodeled Fantasyland.

As it is a public amusement theme park, there are certain elements that as a potential princess bride you should keep in mind:

  • Ceremonies held on off-season weekdays only
  • Available for morning ceremonies before park opening, with a Disneyland Resort hotel reception to follow
  • Available for evening ceremonies after park closing, with Small World Mall dinner buffet reception to follow
  • Morning ceremonies can accommodate 2 – 50 guests
  • Evening ceremonies can accommodate 100 – 300 guests

Here are the areas listed on the Disneyland website that are available for weddings:

Wedding Garden – NATURAL SIMPLICITY – Pledge your everlasting commitment to one another in the golden California sunshine with a homey, inviting backdrop that exemplifies 1920s American Craftsman style and the woodsy great outdoors.   For an intimate gathering that feels more familiar than formal, the Wedding Garden on the grounds of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa is the perfect setting for family and friends to share in your special moment.  This spot can accommodate up to 80 guests.
