Vivian + James – Royal Love Affair at the King Edward Hotel

Vivian and James were a referral from a prominent Chinese caterer in Toronto.  In Vivian’s own words, the caterer told her that “Wendy was the best”.  They brought on the Asian Fusion Wedding team to handle all the logistical, design, management and production elements for their wedding celebrations.

The couple was firm on their wedding date February 21st; coinciding with Chinese New Year since they had many friends and family attending their exquisite wedding celebrations from overseas.  With the cross cultural components and couple’s own visions, Wendy created a look that was timeless and completely unique for their wedding.  The wedding ceremony was done in all white and off-whites, featuring ice clear chiavari chairs accented with gold seat pads and a wall of paper flowers.   The wedding reception showcased deep rich tones red, burgundy, aubergine and champagne accented with gold grace chairs with gold seat pads.

Upon arrival at the King Edward Hotel, guests were greeted with a choice of hot apple cider or Chinese tea to warm up as hotel staff took their coats.  Upon entering the Souveign ballroom, the highlighted feature of the ceremony was the incredibly massive paper floral wall.  It was the focal point in the room where the couple was married and subsequently then had photographs with their guests taken.  After the ceremony, guests proceeded upstairs where they were appetites were enticed with a signature cocktail drink and multiple food stations to enjoy; featuring oysters, sushi and Peking duck.  Wait staff passed other hot and cold canapés while the band played jazz and pop.  Guests were then given time to write their best wishes to the couple in a custom made guest book Wendy hand crafted and have some free moments with friends using the photo booth.

Guests were then ushered to their seats and dined on both Chinese and Western menu options.  The evening’s entertainment included a lion dance team, acrobats, a live band and DJ.  Their celebrations was filled with laughter, smiles and joy.  This was truly a distinct occasion that showcased an infusion of Western wedding traditions and Chinese wedding traditions.  The stunning wedding images were captured by iKonica and Summerfield Films.
